Beautiful Thing – Tip Top Theatre

Sixteen-year-old Jamie lives with his mum Sandra and her younger boyfriend in a low-rise block of flats in Thamesmead, London. Living next door is the rowdy Leah, who has been expelled from school and spends her days sunning herself and listening to Mama Cass. And on the other side is Ste, also sixteen. His father’s anger means that he often hides out in Jamie and Sandra’s flat, spending the night there to escape being beaten. Ste and Jamie start off top-and-tailing in Jamie’s bed, since there’s nowhere else to sleep, and Harvey unfolds their tentative, awkward relationship with delicacy and with joy. Beautiful Thing’s crisply authentic dialogue darts between aching,…

Rehearsals are well underway for our January bonanza production of Ayckbourn’s funny and most surprising play, Improbable Fiction. Introducing us to a creative writing group and what can happen when you use a bit of imagination, it takes the audience on a roller coaster-ride of story-telling possibilities, moving from Historical Romance with Dastardly Dudley threatening vulnerable Miss Ilsa, via smouldering Mavis Green with Murder in Mind, to Sci-Fi adventure, showcasing Rex Van Ecks and his glamorous assistants waging Wars on the Spores – and beyond! Not to be missed! Saturday 13 January, Monday 15 to Saturday 20 January,…

    Nathaniel Studio Photo Shoot

One of my favourite images from Nathaniel’s studio photo shoot. Although he is now very used to the camera and the studio it does not always make the task any easier as he would rather play than have a photo but you have to ready for that moment which you optimistically hope for. For the technically minded we used a 700m beauty dish with a silver reflector and a 3mm grid. Backlighting by a studio strobe to keep the white background pure white. Exposure on the Nathaniel was + 1 stop on background. Post production in LR using colour filters. Any questions please ask. With best wishes for Christmas and…
