    Improbable Fiction – Dress Rehearsal

Seen here: Jess (Jean Lawrence) gets to grip with her writer’s block. Rehearsals are well underway for our January bonanza production of Ayckbourn’s funny and most surprising play, Improbable Fiction. Introducing us to a creative writing group and what can happen when you use a bit of imagination, it takes the audience on a roller coaster-ride of story-telling possibilities, moving from Historical Romance with Dastardly Dudley threatening vulnerable Miss Ilsa, via smouldering Mavis Green with Murder in Mind, to Sci-Fi adventure, showcasing Rex Van Ecks and his glamorous assistants waging Wars on the Spores – and beyond! Not to be missed! Saturday 13 January, Monday 15 to Saturday 20 January,…

    Nathaniel Studio Photo Shoot

One of my favourite images from Nathaniel’s studio photo shoot. Although he is now very used to the camera and the studio it does not always make the task any easier as he would rather play than have a photo but you have to ready for that moment which you optimistically hope for. For the technically minded we used a 700m beauty dish with a silver reflector and a 3mm grid. Backlighting by a studio strobe to keep the white background pure white. Exposure on the Nathaniel was + 1 stop on background. Post production in LR using colour filters. Any questions please ask. With best wishes for Christmas and…

    THE THINGS GOOD MEN DO

Chester Theatre Club – Saturday 11, Monday 13 to Saturday 18 November at 7.30 pm. The Things Good Men Do by Dan Muirden, is opening on Saturday 11 November and runs from Monday 13 to Saturday 18 November at 7.30 pm. This play is about young men behaving badly, but it is also about much more.  Falling in love, getting married and living happily ever after seemed simple to Nick – but it isn’t.  The characters in this play, particularly Nick, the play’s protagonist, face very difficult moral dilemmas – all the result of living now, and hoping never to have to pay later.  There are sexual references and strong…

Family Photo Shoot in our Wrexham Studio

On Sunday we photographed Heather Manley and her family for their first family photoshoot in our new Wrexham Studio It is always such a pleasure to work with and photograph children and we got some fantastic natural images once the children relaxed and started to forget we were present. The possibilities with children can be endless and so creative which we hope will be reflected in our images. This image is combination of three of my favourites images. We used natural light on the day and used the studio strobes as fill to lift the shadows. It was quite a windy day and the exposure often changed as the clouds…

The Killing of Sister George – Tip Top Productions Chester

“Sister George” is a beloved character on a popular BBC soap opera, a cheerful nurse who bicycles about the countryside singing hymns and doing good. In private life, June Buckridge the actress, is a swaggering, foul-mouthed, alcoholic in a long-term relationship with waifish Alice “Childie” McNaught. Due to low ratings, cut-backs and June’s own bad behavior, the BBC decides to “kill Sister George” on the series. A visit from Miss Mercy Croft, a no-nonsense network executive bearing the bad news sends George into meltdown, which results in “Childie’s” retreat to the arms of Mercy. Cast: June Buckridge – Marian Newman Alice ‘Childie’ McNaught – Fiona Wheatcroft Mrs Mercy Croft –…

    A Month of Sundays

Dress rehearsal images taken at Grove Park Wrexham. Production starts 14th October until 21st. A comedy about the difficulties inherent in growing old. 1985 Winner of the Evening Standard award for Best New Comedy. Cooper, who has gone into a nursing home rather than become a burden on his family, flirts valiantly with the female staff, banters with the other old folks and keeps a close check on his “record of physical deteriorations”! To the painful ritual of Sunday family visits and empty condescension, Cooper and his friend Aylott reply with humour and wit, aware that life can only be endured if treated as a comedy. A Month of Sundays is Bob Larbey’s first…
